Seriously, do I give off "PLEASE! FOB ME!" vibes?
I'm back at home! But that is not the point of this post. The point is: WHY IS MY LIFE RIDICULOUS.

Backstory: a few months ago, I received a friend request on Facebook from a Jack Du on the China network, and I rejected it because ummm I don't know him and I tend to get requests from questionable people sometimes. A few days ago, I get another friend request from him, this time with a customized message that went along the lines of, "I really want to be friends!" and I see that we have one friend in common, though it's a senior at BU who I only met once and that was when he messaged me to ask if I could burn him a copy of Goong (asfldkj, I watch my first asian drama in years and suddenly I'm known as a ~dealer~) and :((( I felt too bad rejecting the request again, so I accept and figure I'll just discreetly remove him a week later.

UHHHH, OBSERVE:



WHAT? WHAT? This wouldn't even be considered normal in China or IN CHINESE, okay. THIS IS UNIVERSALLY WEIRD.

And then. Today, I got another friend request!



GUESS OUR 1 FRIEND IN COMMON. A mister Jack Du.

Facebook can be really scary like that. I rarely if ever accept friend requests from people I don't know, and only then if we have more than one friend in common. Otherwise it gets creepy. The amount of messages I've had from guys in like Egypt telling me what a beautiful person I am how much they want to 'get to know me'. asksls scary.

Could you still remove him? Or maybe even block him if he keeps harassing you.

I joined the Germany network when I was abroad and kept getting requests from. . . random people in Germany. . . I'm almost tempted to make my profile picture invisible to people outside my network, but that'd make it harder for other people to find me (LIKE MY 3RD GRADE BEST FRIEND WHO I HADN'T TALKED TO IN YEARS, wow) and that's the beauty of Facebook. :| Decisions. :|

i got this message from a british ~*~photographer~*~ a while ago asking for good clubs, etc. in chicago. i almost responded because his photos were pretty gorg., but then the creepiness factor reasserted itself.

I initially felt bad because I thought I had given misleading information (even though there's absolutely nothing on my profile that implies I live in China. . . but after reading his second comment, now I'm just really weirded out. I'll probably end up blocking him and his uhh friend.

I had Xi'An listed as my hometown but I took it off a week ago, before I accepted his friend request, so there's no way he could've seen it. And I don't even know how he even found me, because he's not in any of my networks and our "common friend" the BU senior has lots of asians friended, too, so. What the hell. I should've just responded with "lol I'm Korean, thanks."

Yeah, I found all of this pretty entertaining in the beginning but now I'm just creeped out. This was why I deleted my myspace after 2 weeks; I don't need Facebook turning out the same. :|

I felt bad at first because he seemed so ummm nice, but now I'm sufficiently weirded out that I'm probably going to block him (and mister angga). Why do people think they know you just because they've seen a 100x150 profile picture; talk about quick judgments. >:o

Also, I have blocked a person who initiated a similar sort of interaction, and I felt sort of weird about it at first, but now whenever I see that block in my settings, I feel sort of awesome about it.
